Beauty Routine

"As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him."

1 John 2:27 (NIV)

A few months ago, I decided after almost 30 years to change my skin care. I had only used one specific brand of skin care and it was something that was introduced to me at the tender age of 15. My mother had attended a skin care class and told me if I would use it, she would buy it. Now, let me ask you- what 15 year old is going to say “no” to makeup??? So began my love for this product and I was actually faithful and vigilant in using it daily.

Over the years I have followed a routine of skin care twice daily- when trouble areas have arose- there was a special product to help. If (and now when) wrinkles appeared- there was a product to help. When there was an age spot- there was a product to help. This skin care line seemed to have all their bases covered.

I honestly can’t remember why I decided to switch to something different, maybe out of curiosity- but I stepped out to try something new and see what would happened (if anything) At first I was very impressed with the new product, it seemed to adjust well and handle my problem areas. I was pleased with the results I was getting. Things were looking up and I was a little boastful that I had the courage to step out of my comfort zone.

Stick with me here men because I can feel the eyes rolling and the “what does this have to do with faith…it’s just makeup for crying out loud”. J I ran across one of my old products this week and thought to myself to try it again to see if I could actually notice a difference. BOY DID I! Not that the new products didn’t work, but I found that the old was better for me and my needs. Maybe my skin was just so used to the old routine, I don’t know but it made me think…

Our faith is a daily routine, it is something that we need to vigilantly and faithfully follow. It isn’t something to be “experimented” with. The Bible is God’s ONE True Word. It’s our handbook, our Leader Guide and Compass. I love to read books by bestselling authors such as Max Lucado or Beth Moore. However, these books are not the Bible. They should be an addition- not a substitution for regular Bible study. I find encouragement and insight from Max and Beth, but draw Divine Intervention from studying my Bible.

Studying our Bibles on a faithful schedule helps us with ANY problem area s that may arise. It’s not a superficial solution- it’s the Ultimate Health Treatment. Try it, I can GUARANTEE you’ll love the results!

Father, thank You so much for the privelge of daily walking with You. I praise You that all I have to do it ask and You are there. Being with You daily is what keeps me in Your perfect care and without it, I am truly flawed, inside and out. In Jesus Name- AMEN.
